State of Michigan has issued a three-week epidemic order to save lives, protect frontline workers.
Big Snow Resort has taken extra health & safety measures for you, our other guests, and our employees. While you stay at Big Snow Resort you are required to follow all posted instructions.
An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and guests with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable.
By visiting Big Snow Resort, you voluntarily take all risks related to exposure of COVID-19.
If any guest does not comply with our posted COVID-19 protocols, they will kindly be ask to leave the premises.
The protocols we have developed are set in place for everyone's safety at our resort. All procedures are following guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), and the State of Michigan.
Thank you for keeping yourself and others safe & healthy so we all can enjoy this winter season on the hills.
We are implementing some changes with your safety in mind:
Due to a Michigan State ordinance, face coverings are required in all buildings, facilities, and lift lines. We kindly ask you bring your own face coverings. Masks are offered upon request, subject to availability.
Indoor Capacity Limits
The state of Michigan has set capacity limits based on square footage of all indoor areas. We have made many changes to table layouts and changing locations of certain departments to make room for others. Unless the state changes key guidelines we will also be only utilizing a limited number of entry ways so we can more accurately control the number of people inside. We understand that this could come as an inconvenience but ask that everyone respects our changes.
Daily Lift Tickets
This season we ask that you plan your trip the best you can. We are pushing our online ticket sales more than ever to reduce indoor contact as much as we can. Please purchase tickets 24 hours in advance. Over the summer we have built a ticket window allowing guests to buy tickets without coming inside. As of now we have no limit set on how many lift tickets are sold per day as we believe there is ample amount of space on the hill to social distance.
Lift Lines & Chair Lifts
To keep our guests safe, we are expanding the lift lines to accommodate for physical distancing. Guests will only be allowed to ride the lifts with other members of their party. If you drove together, you can ride together. Individuals who wish to ride alone will always be allowed to do so.
We will still be running a shuttle bus but will have to be requested through our front office. Only one group will be allowed on the shuttle at a time. We realize this may not be the best situation but we still want to offer people the opportunity to move to both ski hills.
Food & Beverage
Due to restrictions put on by the Michigan government we will be reducing the capacity to 50% in all of our dinning/bar areas. All tables will be set 6ft apart and we ask that once you sit at your table you do not get up to order drinks at the bar. We will have waiters/waitress to assist you.
Online Ski/Snowboard Rentals
To help keep numbers down in our rental area we are asking that when possible rent your gear prior to you stay. We now have a step by step online form to get you set up on rentals. We will have a separate staging area with all the online rental equipment so you can pick up and ski, skip the lines inside to get more runs on the hill. When both hills are open Blackjack will have a much smaller line in the rental department with much more space for social distancing.
Ski & Snowboard lessons will still be available this year however there will not be any group lessons. Book early & book fast. We may have limited slots per day so booking early will be important if you would like to have lessons.
For many of you it is tradition here at Big Snow Resort to bring in a cooler of food & drinks for the family. Because of capacity limits we want everyone to have a chance to come inside to warm up if needed. This forces us to not allow any carry - ins. Instead we encourage you to tailgate in the parking lot.
Due to state restrictions and how Covid-19 can spread we feel it is not safe to operate kinder care the way we have in the past. Child services will not open this season.
Health & Racket/ Pool
State Regulations have been increasingly tight when it comes to gym and pool settings. We have made the decision to close the Health & Racket department on our resort for this ski season. Right now we are limited to 25% capacity and find it unfair to our paying guests that can't use the pool area. Due to this, we are only allowing our guests who have paid for a hotel room to use the pools.
