Big Snow Resort – Home of Indianhead and Blackjack Mountain is not only one of Michigan’s most scenic ski resort, overlooking Indianhead Valley and glimpse of Lake Superior. Big Snow Resort has been a destination for the Midwest for 60 years. We have been sharing the gift of the outdoors since 1959. Indianhead Lodge sits atop the very site the farm operated since the early 1900's. The original barn is still a fixture of our resort with a dining experience. You will enjoy a well-appointed cocktail from our scenic overlook at Sky Bar atop Indianhead Mountain. The passage of time has not diminished the beauty and workmanship of the original construction. Each of the 48 guest rooms features classic hotel accommodations from which to enjoy the resort. Pet-friendly rooms are available. There are six two bedroom condos with porches or decks with fireplaces, plus six one-bedroom cabins with fireplaces and decks. New this year we have tent camping. Lastly, we have all the parking your heart desires for your toy hauler or RV.
Guests arriving on Thursday will be welcomed with music, food, drinks and camaraderie at the Sky Bar atop Indianhead Mountain. The Welcome Reception is a great opportunity to share stories from the trip with new friends and to catch up with old ones.
Friday is your day to explore Upper Peninsula’s unique features and destinations, such as Lake of the Clouds, South Boundary Road, Mt Baldy, Brockway Mountain and the many viewpoints overlooking beautiful Geological outcroppings and Lake Superior. Enjoy riding the local roads and take in the scenery and communities of the area. There are a number of easy side trips or a visit Keweenaw National Park.
Whatever you plan for the day, make sure you are back at the main lodge for dinner. Be prepared to share details of your day’s adventure with those at your table and we’ll give away some great door prizes too!
Saturday is your day to adventure west through Upper Peninsula and into Northern Wisconsin completing portions of the Lake Superior Tour. You wind your way through quaint towns of Saxon, Bayfield and Cornucopia. Visit unique features and destinations, Apostle Island Natioanl Lakeshore, Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest and Copper Falls. Enjoy riding the local roads and take in the scenery and communities of the area. There are a number of easy side trips to picturesque Amnicon Falls or to the World’s heaviest ball of twine! If you are feeling adventurous take the ferry out of Bayfield to beautiful Madeline Island.
